Riverbend Ranch
Providing exceptionally powerful genetics in large quantities at a price that everyone can afford.
LEARN MOREIn 1991, Frank and his wife Belinda VanderSloot created Riverbend Ranch, embarking on a mission to establish one of the best Black Angus cattle herd in the United States. He began a 30-year journey of hand-selecting individual cattle from across the finest Angus herds in the nation, investing millions of dollars and countless hours in selecting what is now the foundation of one of the top seedstock herds in America
The Riverbend Ranch herd has been meticulously curated through a rigorous selection process, evaluating EPDs, genetics, muscle and skeletal soundness, and individual performance data, resulting in a herd that is recognized as one of the best in the Nation!
The operation gradually expanded its reach across multiple states and today Riverbend Ranch totals approximately 290,000 acres of premium pastures of high-elevation ranch land through Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
In recognition of the ranch’s achievement in producing superior quality beef, the American Angus Association awarded Riverbend Ranch with the 2016 Seedstock Commitment to Excellence Award for its Certified Angus Beef.
Each year, Riverbend Ranch hosts some of the largest sales in the nation. Combining innovation with time-honored tradition, this fifth-generation ranch employs a team of highly skilled cattlemen and their families who embrace the ever-changing advancements in the industry while always staying true to the traditional values that makes ranching such an important part of American history.

Frank’s love of ranching came from being raised on a small family ranch in Cocolalla, Idaho.

The barn still stands in Cocolalla, Idaho where Frank grew up.
Animal Stewardship
The health and quality of life of our cattle have a significant impact on the quality of our product. Humane treatment of our cattle is an important part of providing your family with healthy, sustainable beef.
Raised With Their Mothers
Riverbend Ranch calves are born in the spring and stay with their mothers from the day they are born. They grow up romping on rangeland and spend their second year roaming free in high mountain meadows located in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Our Never Ever Promise
Approximately 90% of all cattle raised in America have been injected with artificial growth hormones to increase their rate of growth. At Riverbend Ranch, we don’t use growth hormones to make our cattle grow faster. The superior genetics of our cow herd give our calves all of the advantage they need to mature naturally without growth hormones. When animals with good genetics are raised in open pastures there is no need to administer antibiotics to keep them healthy. That’s why we can make our Never Ever promise: the beef we produce has NEVER EVER given growth hormones or fed antibiotics—guaranteed!
